Stakeholder Profile: Bureau of Indian Affiars
Integrity, respect, trust, sovereignty, dignity, support, self-determination, innovation, and teamwork: these are the guiding principles the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Western Regional Office is committed to in its unique relationship with federally recognized Indian Tribes. Critical to this relationship is BIA's mission, which among other objectives, includes enhancing quality of life, promoting economic opportunity, and protecting and improving trust assets of Indian Tribes and individual American Indians. This is accomplished within the framework of a government-to-government relationship in which the spirit of Indian self-determination is paramount. As part of the Glen Canyon Adaptive Management Work Group, BIA's Western Regional Office is committed to working hand-in-hand with interested tribes and other participating agencies to ensure that this fragile, unique, and traditionally important landscape is preserved and protected.
